Producing The Dark Side of The Moon at Rock the Fort means there is great responsibility that accompanies this opportunity to deliver the iconic songs for all faithful fans around Malta & Gozo that will surely flock in big numbers to see the reenactment of this legendary album in its entirety and all it’s little nuances that shaped the sound of an era.
Conrad Dimech has been in the music scene for more than 20 years and is honoured to have collaborated with top local artists such as Ivan Grech, A Broken Design, Cushion, ManaTapu, The Crowns amongst others and created events such as Mumenti (collecting more than €11000 to Hospice), Musicals in Concert (in collaboration with the Malta Youth Orchestra) together with other various theatre productions.
The team is geared up to immerse itself in the world of Pink Floyd and deliver a one of a kind tribute.
Gabriella is a multi-talented artist, mainly being a pop singer and violinist. She embarked on her musical journey at the tender age of five when she started attending the Gozo School of Music. There she grew fond of the artistry and went on expanding her knowledge and passion for music.
Singing became one of her main aims in life as she started attending vocal coaching at the age of twelve up until this very day. Following her father’s footsteps, she got a particular interest in bands – Spectrum was her first band where she gained confidence in various styles of music, ranging from Jazz to Rock.
Throughout her artistic career, she embarked onto opportunities that were presented to her, especially those related to music and dance, and included choirs, orchestras, bands, dancing shows, musicals and other side projects. Some of these included singing at the Delicata & Marsovin Wine Festivals, pre-match UEFA Euro Qualifiers 2016, Strummin’, RockAstra, Teatru Unplugged, and joined Musea Orchestra for the Gozo 2023 New Year’s celebration. She also took the role of Marty in ‘Grease’ the musical (2016) and of Demeter in ‘Cats’ (2019).
She released her debut EP ‘Disclosed’ as a solo artist in 2019 and is looking forward to creating more original material. Currently, she is also the front woman and manager of Novel who as a cover band has managed to create quite a following in Malta.
Josef Tabone is a vocal coach at VocalBooth Studios where he coaches junior students, as well as a Vocal Director of Junior Vocal Troupes. He is also a professional singer and also a backing vocalist.
He studied singing, piano and music theory at Johann Strauss achieving certification from Trinity College of London. He participated in various festivals namely, Malta Eurovision, ‘Kanzunetta Indipendenza’, Malta Hit Song Contest and Kanzunetta Maltija Muzika Muzika with the group Avenue Sky in 2021 and with Victoria in 2023. He is a tenor in one of Malta’s top gospel choirs Animae. He took part and wrote various pantos, and musicals namely Mama Mia, Hair Spray and Cindirella and others.
He was also a backing vocalist for Lawrence Grey, Corazon, Kevin Borg, Glen Vella, Wintermoods and Christabelle Borg during the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon 2018.
His aspirations are to grow musically and to pass on the love of music to others. ‘Music is the key to ones soul’.
Mark Micallef Costa is a singer/songwriter, front man of ‘SterjoTipi’. He has been studying music since he was five years old. He has studied classical music and obtained a Diploma in Piano Performance with the London College of Music in 2013. Mark has continued to explore other styles of music through his involvement in local bands. In 2010 he formed a band called ‘Dynamite’ which later changed its name to ‘Negative Spaces’ in 2013. Negative spaces had released its own music/singles, two of which making it to Malta’s Top10 charts. Mark played the keyboards with this band and was also a backing vocalist. Mark played with other bands as a session pianist in his teenage years. He was also pianist of Gospel Choir ‘VOCA’ for a few years.
In 2017, Mark formed Maltese-Singing band ‘SterjoTipi’ and became lead singer and keyboardist with this band. Mark is the composer and author of SterjoTipi’s original songs, most of which has made it to Malta’s PRS Top 10 charts, and are played regularly by local radio and TV shows. Songs such as ‘BELTi’, ‘Int u Jien’, ‘Mostri’, ‘Urini’, ‘Differenti’, ‘Supereroj’ and recently launched ‘Bogħod mill-Briju’ were all well-received by their fans and this continued to make the band even more popular through the years. SterjoTipi were invited to play at various festivals such as the ‘Beer Festival’, ‘Valletta Green Festival’, ‘Beland Music Festival’, ‘Food Festivals’ and others. The band is also very sought for in weddings and corporate functions, due to the energetic vibe that they create with their music.
Mark M Costa has recently participated in ‘Mużika Mużika’ – Festival tal- Kanzunetta Maltija and placed 5th with his song ‘Fuq Pultruna’. Julian Azzopardi started his musical education at the age of 6 and has now attained his ALCM in piano performance. At the age of 7 he started taking clarinet lessons under the tuition of Godfrey Mifsud at the Malta School of Music and has attained his diploma in clarinet performance. He took up the saxophone in 2022 and has been involved in performances such as Strummin’, Mumenti and Student’s Fest. At the age of 13 he joined the Malta Youth Orchestra which has been under the baton of world-renowned conductors such as Peter Stark, Robert Hodge, Anthony Gabriele, Philip Walsh and Sergey Smbatyan. In 2022, he was the orchestra director for the St. Aloysius College Soirée. He has also been given the opportunity to join the Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra on their 2019 Palencia Tour. In 2017, he attended the MusicFest in Aberystwyth, Wales where he was tutored by clarinettist David Campbell.
Kristy Spiteri is a seventeen-year-old singer, who is trained in both classical and pop genres. She has had multiple experiences in Malta and abroad, to showcase and improve her talent. She had the opportunity to sing with an orchestra in Mascialucia at just 8 years, where she placed first with the song ‘Think of Me’ from the musical ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ She also sang in the Ariston Theatre in San Remo accompanied by an orchestra. Apart from orchestras, she sings alongside many local bands, and also plays the saxophone in many concerts.
She has taken part in X Factor Season 3 where she had made it to the Judges’ Houses, and placed 3rd in the televised program BRILLANTI. Kristy also had the opportunity to sing in the tenor Joseph Calleja’s choir in his concert at Fort Manoel.
Kristy also has experience in musical theatre, as she has performed in many Maltese theatres, most recent one being the role of Maria in St. Aloysius College’s Soiree ‘Dear West Side; in 2023.
Neville Refalo started his singing career 23 years ago under the tutorage of Maltese locally renowned Maestro Bryan Cefai. He took part in various local important festivals and others abroad especially in Italy, Spain, Cyprus and Montenegro. Neville is also a local TV personality, having participated in various local programmes both as a resident singer as well as drama actor.
He forms part of many established local bands which tour the country in various local events. He is also an established Maltese actor who participated in various local successful plays, musicals and TV productions. He played the main roles in the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar, The Phantom Of
The Opera, Jekyll and Hyde, Caravaggio and The Band’s Visit. He is now preparing for another main role in the musical Chicago.
Neville has a distinguished rock voice with a high and versatile vocal range, having interpreted many songs during the past years, such as Queen, Pink Floyd and other 70s classics. He is extremely looking forward to be part of such a mega-project and having the time of his life on stage with all the many Pink Floyd fans attending.
Noel Scerri is a keyboardist and co-founder for the Maltese band Cushion. He draws influences from classical, rock, and electronic music, and has studied piano, music theory, and computer science, which sparked his interest in digital music, synthesizers, and digital audio workstations. Throughout his career, he has gained experience in music composition, sound generation, and live performances by playing with bands of various genres, including rock, pop, and ethnic fusion. In addition to his work with Cushion, Noel is currently involved in a project covering songs by the iconic band Pink Floyd.
Giuseppe Pecci is a guitarist born in Catania (Italy) in 1980 and based in Malta since 2014. He starts listening music from his childhood, the music available at home which was mainly 70thies rock and blues.
At 10 years old the first acoustic guitar, and at 14 the first electric guitar. He was a performer with
some local band in Sicily during the secondary school, playing rock covers of the 80’ and 90’ and then the guitarist of the original band “Karbonica” taking part of the release of the first band’s album in 2013 and playing many festivals around Sicily and Italy, Lavica Rock, Lennon Festival and Rock
Targato Italia in Milan in 2014.
In 2011 was also the founder of the Pink Floyd Tribute Band “Moonsiders” which was active for
around two season around Sicily.
Actually living in Malta had some collaboration with some local artist and he is a member of the
band “The Crowns”.
Marco Vella started music tuition with Mro. Tony Pace in 1996 and later moved on to self- tuition. His first band named ‘Kashmir’, for which he was bassist and singer, performed for the first time in the Junior College Soiree in 1997. ‘Kashmir’ split up in 1998 and Marco spent 25 years as a freelance musician seeking to acquire as much experience as possible in various setups and musical styles by playing with various local artists and musicians including: La Barokka, J Anvil, Fiona Cauchi, Brooke
Borg, Raquel Galdes Briffa, Stefan Cassar, Conrad Briffa, Martin Jenkins, Adrian Galea and Norbert Borg.
Between 1999 & 2012, Marco was involved in the Praise and Worship music sphere and he was called to play bass for the ‘Academy of Praise & Worship’. He was also bassist for ‘His Project’ band between 2007 and 2013. Between 2015 and 2017 Marco played bass for The Maleth Sinfonia Keyboard Orchestra under the direction of Chev. Mro. Mark Agius.
Along these years Marco also played Bass in various festivals amongst which: L-Għanja Tal- Poplu, World Youth Day Song Contest, Notte Bianca, Ode to Joy Citezens’ Orchestra and Mumenti. To date Marco has played and collaborated on several other projects and productions with Blacklight Studios and Arthaus MT, both as electric and double bass player.
Jean-Luc is a talented and versatile drummer who has made a name for himself in the music scene with his dynamic playing style and unwavering dedication to his craft. Currently, Jean-Luc is the drummer for the popular band, Lara & The Jukeboys, where he has gained a reputation for his exceptional musicianship and ability to bring a unique energy to their live shows.
In addition to his work with Lara & The Jukeboys, Jean-Luc has played with a variety of other artists and bands, including Desi Campbell, Jack’s Fusion, Eversity, and more. As a session drummer, he has collaborated with a diverse range of musicians and has proven to be a versatile and adaptable player who can bring his unique style to any genre of music. Moreover, he has also been involved in the Strummin foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting music education and supporting musicians.
With Pink Floyd being a huge influence on Jean-Luc, he is bringing his talent and love for music for one commemorable evening honouring the legends themselves in the best way possible.
